Mentoring

“This program is under the aegis of the Department of Political Science at Penn State University. The purpose of the program is to help first-year students lay the foundations for long-term success in their academic careers, and to assist in the academic and professional development of all undergraduates including those from traditionally underserved backgrounds. The program sponsors and supports undergraduate experiences that help them students excel academically.

Prof. Yadav helped conceive and design the program and has been serving as its faculty advisor since August 2021.”

Program Details:

The Horizon program will recruit fifteen students with a strong interest in majoring in Political Science. All first-year students are eligible. We encourage historically underrepresented students (such as first-generation or LGBTQ students, students of color, veterans, etc.) to apply, but participation is not limited on the basis of any category aside from first-year status. The application form needs to be submitted by September 16, 2022 for consideration and successful applicants will be notified by September 23, 2022. Program events will begin on September 30, 2022. Students will attend various social, informational and career events throughout the year, have access to academic support and the opportunity to meet with Penn State Political Science alumni and speakers.
